CityCatalyst is a project from Open Earth, a non-profit on a mission to speed up climate action through open digital tools. We bring together science, technology, and big-picture thinking to build the kind of infrastructure the world needs to tackle climate change, collaboratively, and at scale.
Visit openearthEmpower cities and regions to take climate action by simplifying how they collect, manage, and use climate data.
A world where every city, no matter its size or capacity, can easily access the tools and data needed to plan, report, and scale their climate solutions.
They generate over 70% of global emissions, yet often lack the tools, resources, and data to act effectively.
Inventories take months, data is messy or missing, and access to finance requires evidence that many local teams can’t produce.
We believe cities are critical climate actors. That’s why we built CityCatalyst.
CityCatalyst was born from years of working with local governments and networks like ICLEI, UNFCCC, and the Global Covenant of Mayors.
We saw a clear need: A user-friendly, open digital product that could help cities easily manage emissions data, climate risks, and action planning while meeting global standards.
So we created CityCatalyst:
- A platform designed for cities of all sizes and capacities
- Built with local realities in mind, not just technical perfection
- Open by default, scalable, and ready to integrate with existing tool
sIt started as a collaboration between climate experts, software developers, and local practitioners, and today, it’s growing through partnerships with cities, consultants, and networks around the world.
We’re a global, multidisciplinary team of climate and technology professionals working across disciplines and time zones to accelerate local climate action.
Our team includes; Climate scientists, policy experts, Product managers, Software engineers & data specialists, UX researchers & local government collaborators, Marketing strategists & partnership builders
