Cities are on the frontlines of the climate crisis, but they’re also leading the way in delivering the solutions we need. From innovative housing programs to cooling infrastructure, mayors across the country are proving that what starts local doesn’t stay local. Their leadership inspires others, multiplies progress, and accelerates national momentum on climate.
That’s the vision behind Impact, Multiplied, a new campaign by Climate Mayors celebrating how city-led initiatives can scale far beyond their origins.
Impact, Multiplied is a storytelling campaign designed to showcase mayor-led climate solutions and how they ripple outward to strengthen communities nationwide. By highlighting innovation at the local level, it demonstrates that mayors are not only addressing climate challenges where they live, they’re also shaping affordability, health, safety, and resilience for families everywhere.
Chicago’s Green Homes Program is helping families cut energy bills, breathe cleaner air, and live more comfortably, while creating jobs and building a more skilled workforce.
Phoenix’s Cool Pavement Initiative is making neighborhoods more livable by lowering street-level temperatures and protecting public health during extreme heat.
Cleveland’s Summer Safety Plan is greening vacant lots, repairing streets, and upgrading lighting, simple steps that reduce heat, deter violence, and strengthen communities.
Each project started in one city. Together, they tell a story of impact multiplied.
Mayors are the closest elected leaders to residents, which means their climate solutions can scale quickly. When one city leads, others follow, turning individual initiatives into national progress.
At OpenEarth Foundation, through CityCatalyst, we share this mission: empowering cities with open digital tools to build greenhouse gas inventories, assess climate risks, and identify high-impact actions. By simplifying data and planning, CityCatalyst helps local solutions multiply into systemic change.
Impact, Multiplied is more than a campaign, it’s an invitation to share, learn, and collaborate.
